Whether you’re wearing your hat to look cool, or for practicality reasons, shaping the hat’s brim is vital.
Here’s a look at how to shape a straw cowboy hat.
Check for an inner wire
In terms of how to shape a straw cowboy hat, the first thing you need to do is check for an inner wire around the outer bound of the trim of the hat. If there is no wire, you can’t shape the brim because if you do, the material will be damaged.
If there is an inner wire, you can go ahead and start shaping you hat however you like.
Once you locate the wire, gently bend it into whichever shape you like.
Decide which shape and style you want
Next up, the next thing you need to consider is exactly what sort of shape and style of cowboy hat you want.
This is entirely down to you and your own unique personal tastes so decide what works for you.
There are no rules here so get creative and style the hat however you want. If you want to roll the brim of just one side of the hat, then go right ahead. Alternatively, you might want to roll the brim on both sides, or leave it as it. It is entirely your call.
Take your time and be gentle

Straw cowboy hats are not the strongest of hats and you therefore shouldn’t just bend the wire and pull the brim around roughly, as this will damage the hat.
Instead, take your time and gently bend and shape the wire until you’re happy with the new design you’ve created.
Never lay it down brim flat
Finally, after you are happy with the shape of your new cowboy hat, you need to be careful when laying it down.
